Sunshine also accompanied the Supersport class during Saturday's sessions on the historic French circuit of Magny-Cours.
In Race 1, Philipp Öttl started from eleventh on the grid, but was forced to slow down at the first corner to avoid contact, losing two positions. Despite this, he quickly regained them within the same lap.
After several attempts, he managed to overtake the driver in front of him on lap seven. In the middle of the race, Öttl repeatedly swapped positions with the driver ahead of him, but it was on lap ten that he managed to settle into ninth place.
With five laps to go he gained another position, but on the final lap he was forced to give up another place, finishing Race 1 in ninth position.
Thanks to a best time of 1'40.937, the Feel Racing WorldSSP Team rider will start Race 2 from eighth on the grid.
Philipp Öttl (#65):
“We finished P9 from P11, improving a bit. The start wasn't easy, but then I made up a few positions. Tomorrow we're starting P8, so much better: one row further up. I think we have a better chance tomorrow. I think the speed is there. I'm not very satisfied today, but I think we can have a good race tomorrow”.
