Round Balaton - Friday

After 35 years, the SBK World Championship returns to Hungary on a completely new track, previously seen only during a single day of testing at the end of August, during which Philipp Öttl began to gain familiarity with the new circuit.
This afternoon, the Feel Racing WorldSSP Team takes to the track for the usual Supersport class Superpole.
After eight minutes and three laps, Philipp crashed due to contact at Turn 2. Moments later, the red flag was shown for an accident involving another rider, and thanks in part to this break, the German didn't waste much time. The team intervened quickly, fixed the bike, and sent him back out on track with 23 minutes left in the session.
From that moment on, however, the feeling was no longer the same and Philipp finished the Superpole in 13th position, with a gap of +0.911s from the leader.
Philipp Öttl (#65):
“The first qualifying session here at Balaton is over. Only P13; we had a crash at the start of the session with another rider, which was really unfortunate. I'm happy that the team sorted everything out very quickly, so we were able to salvage a decent position for tomorrow. I'm quite optimistic because FP1 went well. Tomorrow we'll give it our all”.
